MS CMPE Program Requirements

Overview

To meet the requirements for the MS in Computer Engineering, a student must complete at least 30 units of 200-level courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. No undergraduate course counts towards the master's degree until approved by the graduate advisor. Either Plan A (with thesis) or Plan B (without thesis, project or course-only) may be chosen.

Degree Requirements

  • Degree Core (9 units)
  • Specialization Core (minimum 9 units from a selected specialization)
  • Technical Electives (minimum 6 units)
  • Internships (optional)
  • Projects (6 units)/thesis (6 units)/Comprehensive exam (1 unit)
  • Graduate Writing Requirement
  • A total of 30 or more units (not including Graduate Writing Requirements)

Technical Elective Courses

  • CMPE graduate courses (except CMPE 270, 271, 294, 298, and 298I)
  • At most two pre-approved graduate courses from another departments
